Progestins (including progestin-only contraception): Progestins come in a variety of forms, including pills , injections, implants, or as an intrauterine device (IUD), such as levonorgestrel IUD (Mirena®Skyla®,), contraceptive implant (Nexplanon® ), contraceptive injection (Depo-Provera®) or progestin pill (Camila®). Progestins taken continuously, like combined hormonal contraception, may temporarily stop menstrual periods. This can be useful for other related conditions such as adenomyosis. However, studies have indicated that endometriosis lesions may not respond to progestins due to altered progesterone receptors.”
